All was great !
A mother (chef) and son have created a treasure in their family home. The food is carefully sourced and beautifully presented in an updated version of local Alentejo cuisine. Plan to spend the evening in this intimate and warm space where the food is served as it is ready. A truly unique dining experience!
We returned to dine here after a great evening a year and a half ago. We were not disappointed! A new generation in the front of the house has changed the experience from lovely and old-fashioned to modern and relaxed. Momma is still turning out superb dishes, really superb! The place is tiny (14 seats) so make a reservation online, very easy. This is one of our most memorable favorites. This time we had clams for a starter, amuse bouche of black pork with fresh figs, medallions of black pork tenderloin for me, slow cooked leg of lamb for husband. Fabulous local red wine. No room for dessert. Wish we lived closer, as this place would be our go to place.
Our server was helpful and friendly!
We had a great experience at Bistro Barao. Service and food were excellent.
This dinner was our very favorite in three weeks in Portugal. The food was truly delicious accompanied by a great bottle of wine. Local cheeses and traditional dessert pastries accompanied stunning veal medallions and a phenomenal duck pie. The restaurant is very small so book ahead. You will be warmly welcomed. Five stars all around.
The food, service and environment was absolutely exceptional. We recommend many to try this quaint experience. We will definitely be back.
Great little spot for an authentic portugese meal
Wonderful bistro with fresh ingredients and a lovely ambience. My favorite meal in the two weeks we’ve been traveling. The service was impeccable.
Great place
Everything about this place is perfect! We got the garlic shrimp app, the traditional pork with clams and the pork medallions. The best meal by far on our 26 day trip to Portugal and Spain and maybe the best meal ever. We literally just stumbled upon it while looking to have a drink the night before and when we saw how romantic it was we made a reservation for the next night.
Lovely local restaurant. Very authentic. Loved our waiter/owner!! So friendly. Small and intimate. Glad we went there. Lovely expertise!
Stupendous food and service! Quiet small setting providing delicious local cuisine!
The food was superb. The lamb chops were fresh flavorful and cooked perfectly. The local Alentejano red wine was divine - unlike anything I'd tasted. Incredible
Amazing! It was relatively expensive for us, but the food was absolutely delicious and the wine superb. The food and wine of this fabulous region were well showcased. We loved autographing the wall after our fantastic meal.
Top notch!! Everything about our experience at Bistro Barao was excellent. The service was friendly, warm and pleasant. The food was fresh, authentic, delicious and perfectly done. This was the most hospitable and delicious authentic meal we have had in Portugal!
We were most pleased with the advice given and with the food and wine service. This restaurant is small and offers a cozy atmosphere. It feels like home.
Bistro Barão is an absolute gem. Claudio is a wonderful host and his mother Marguerita, creates magical dishes from the tiny kitchen, food that feels like home cooking made with love, yet executed at a world-class level. The prawns were some of the best I’ve ever had, the wild duck pie was incredible, the grouper fantastic and cheese selection outstanding. An intimate, family-run spot we highly recommend.
What a beautiful find in Evora. A small place filled with warmth and personality . The meal was carefully prepared and delicious and the owner chose a marvelous bottle of wine to go with our beef and lamb dish . A delightful evening
Phenomenal meal. Food was delicious! Service was great. Would totally recommend to anyone traveling to Evora. 5 stars!!!
Beyond fantastic! The best meal we’ve had in Portugal. Food, service and ambience were all stellar.
Uma deliciosa descoberta andando pelas ruas de Évora.
Super
This restaurant was a great find. A real hidden gem that is worth the visit. The food and wine were mostly local. The bread was seven made from fresh flour through to the end process. The selection of cheeses were delicious, main and dessert sumptious. Staff outstanding. The ambience of the place was stunning. A must visit.
